When Singapore was Syonan-To

imgres.jpg     The Japanese named Singapore Syonan-To which means Light of the South. We have learnt how the people's lives changed when we were under their rule. Students had to learn the Japanese Language and sing Japan's Anthem. At Assembly in schools, they raised the Japanese flag. Well, everyone suffered but look at the other side of the coin too. The Japanese also suffered especially after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Atomic Bomb In Hiroshima

This is the atomic bomb that was set off in Hiroshima to end World War II.
Tens and thousands of people vapourised in seconds. Some were burned. Some turned into carbon, but barely a few lived to tell this horrible and heart-wrenching tale.
It was 4000 degree celsius in the centre of the atomic bomb.
The Nuclear energy from the atomic bomb gave off powerful infra rays, radiation and gamma rays.
Gamma Rays penetrates the walls of the body and attack the cells.
The morning was nothing but darkness.
Hiroshima had become the 'City Of Death'.

Learning Journey to Changi Chapel - 6th April 2011

Changi Chapel was really awesome! So much of history. We saw the POWs suffering but they were daring too. They actually had radios in their shoes, broom and even in a matchbox! Oh well, this is one side of the coin. By reading Sadako, we will see the other side.  Please do comment on the blog and write me some reflections. I can't wait to hear from you!

Nuclear Crisis in Japan

After the Tsunami, the Earthquake and the Nuclear Crisis in Japan, I wonder how the people of Japan are doing. With high radiation levels, is the food and water there safe for consumption?
Let's give them moral support. Be resilient, Japan!
