When Singapore was Syonan-To

imgres.jpg     The Japanese named Singapore Syonan-To which means Light of the South. We have learnt how the people's lives changed when we were under their rule. Students had to learn the Japanese Language and sing Japan's Anthem. At Assembly in schools, they raised the Japanese flag. Well, everyone suffered but look at the other side of the coin too. The Japanese also suffered especially after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

  1. During the war,the British surrendered Singapore to the Japanese. And than they named us Syonan-To and that means The Light Of The South. They also treat us like slaves and if we don't respect them, they will chop off our heads.
